Guide for Junior Regattas:

Results from every Junior Regatta determine which club wins the GSBYRA Team Race Trophy, and qualifies skipper for Fleet Season Trophies. The GSBYRA Scorer uses a reverse Low Point System and gives each competitor an additional point for racing. Trophy is presented to club with highest points at GSBYRA Annual Fall Meeting and Awards Dinner.

Results from every Junior Regatta determine winners of Fleet/Class Season Trophies.

The objective is to give junior sailors a safe, fun and good learning experience, and to give instructors the responsibility of organizing, running, and scoring a regatta.

Safety:  Instructors and coaches shall view safety as the primary focus. Insure all problems are addressed and assist all sailors regardless of club affiliation. Although the primary responsibility of the instructor is to his or her charges, common sense dictates that problems must be covered. Use accompanying instructors and their boats as safety patrol.

Cooperation: Encourage sailors and clubs to help each other before, during, and after the race no matter what their club affiliation is.

Coaching: Give verbal assistance to all Green Fleet participants in order to improve skills. Instructors provide feedback to all participants as one assembled group before awards are presented.

Respect: Reinforce The Fundamental Rules and The Racing Rules of Sailing in a positive way. Encourage sailors to say “thank you” as they cross the line, particularly, after the last race.

GSBYRA provides 3 auto timing systems for use at Junior Regattas.

GSBYRA provides standard NOR and SI for Junior Regattas.
